On July 20, 2023, the Chairman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan D.Gulmanova had a meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Kim Jin-pyo, in the presence of delegates from both countries.
The Head of the Mejlis congratulated Kim Jin-pyo on receiving the highest award of Turkmenistan, the Order of Turkmenistan “Bitaraplyk”, and wished him success in his inter-parliamentary activities. The two sides highlighted the active role of the Korean partners in the implementation of the comprehensive reform program taking place in Turkmenistan and the importance of inter-parliamentary dialogue in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Kim Jin-pyo expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and congratulations, and noted with satisfaction the constructive nature of the bilateral relations, which have been dynamically developing. Both sides positively evaluated the high level of interstate dialogue achieved in recent years, which is being developed in bilateral and multilateral formats, as well as through major international and regional organizations. The interlocutors also underlined their mutual desire to give a new impetus to the traditional partnership, which is based on the principles of equality and mutual respect.
During the meeting, the guests were informed about the structure and activities of the national parliament of Turkmenistan. The interlocutors noted that a number of important laws and regulations have been developed and adopted in recent years, which have provided a steady impetus to the innovative reforms being carried out under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The two sides expressed confidence that the visit of the Korean colleagues to Turkmenistan and the current meeting will give a positive impetus to the process of developing relations between the two countries, which are strategic partners.
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea then addressed the deputies of the Mejlis and confirmed the commitment of the Korean side to the traditionally friendly dialogue with Turkmenistan, which is mutually beneficial.
