The Samarkand Institute of Agricultural Innovation and Research recently hosted an international training workshop to discuss the potential of bioeconomics in Uzbekistan. Scientists and experts from Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, and Uzbekistan attended, with the event organized by the BioEsUz consortium under the leadership of the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies and funded by the ERASMUS+ program of the European Union.
At the workshop, the advantages, differences, and tasks of bioeconomics in comparison to the sectoral approach were discussed. The European scientists shared their experience in this field, and it was noted that Uzbekistan has great potential for transitioning from network to bioeconomics. It was also highlighted that promising projects in bioeconomics will be implemented soon, and skilled professionals will be in demand.
