South Korean Industry Minister Bang Moon-kyu will be making a journey to Chile and Trinidad and Tobago in order to promote economic collaboration in the battery materials and renewable energy sectors, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy declared on Sunday.
Bang left the country on Saturday as a special envoy of the President to tour the two countries. In Chile, the minister intends to explore ways to reinforce the supply of core battery materials, to expand economic cooperation and to assist Korean enterprises in advancing to the Latin American country’s renewable energy markets.
As per the U.S. Geological Survey published in January, Chile is home to the world’s largest lithium reserves, estimated at 9.3 million metric tons.
Bang will also be meeting with Trinidad and Tobago’s officials to discuss methods to expand trade and investment, as well as to cooperate on energy resources.
