An International Food Security Conference Launches in Historic Samarkand

The Government of Uzbekistan, with the technical assistance of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), has opened an International Conference on Food Security at the International Tourist Center “The Great Silk Road” in Samarkand. The event is attended by delegates from more than 30 countries, including ministers, diplomats, and senior officials from various international organizations, financial institutions, and scientific institutions.

High-ranking representatives from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Economic Cooperation Organization, the World Bank, the Islamic Organization for Food Security, and the Asian Development Bank are among the speakers and guests. Prime Minister A. Aripov read the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s greeting to the conference participants.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shukhrat Ganiyev, Minister of Agriculture Aziz Voitov, FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu, and other dignitaries were present at the opening ceremony.
