The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, and the UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the Office for Project Services, Jorge Moreira da Silva, had a constructive meeting in New York. They discussed ways to improve cooperation through joint projects in areas such as education, healthcare, and ecology. As a result of their talks, an agreement was signed between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the United Nations to create the first UNOPS office in Central Asia in Tashkent. It is expected that this representative office will contribute to strengthening ties between the two countries, especially in relation to the implementation of the Uzbekistan-2030 Strategy and the Sustainable Development Goals.
