At the August 30 credential ceremony for newly appointed foreign ambassadors to Uzbekistan, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China Yu Jun both expressed their commitment to the countries’ relationship. President Mirziyoyev noted that Beijing is one of Uzbekistan’s long-standing and reliable friends, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary concurred that bilateral relations have reached the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership. The Ambassador promised to take the partnership to a higher level.
The two countries are also key partners in the Belt and Road project, and cooperation in investment and modern technology, trade and economic sectors, transport logistics, and the digital economy is consistently progressing. A summit meeting is scheduled within the framework of the Belt and Road International Forum, which will be held in October in China.
