Agreement Reached at the Tajik-Turkmen Joint Commission Meeting in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE, 29.11.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday in Dushanbe, the co-chairs of the Tajik-Turkmen Joint Commission for Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation — Sulaymon Ziyozoda (Tajikistan) and Tangryguly Atakhallyev (Turkmenistan) — signed a protocol at the twelfth meeting of the Commission.

The parties noted that since gaining independence, strong foundations for collaboration in the areas of politics, trade, economics, culture, and humanities have been established between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, and these accomplishments have taken the partnership between the countries to the level of a strategic alliance.

The delegates also discussed the implementation of the resolutions from the eleventh meeting, which occurred from November 9 to November 10, 2022 in Ashgabat.

In addition, the participants discussed ways to broaden economic, commercial, technical, scientific, and cultural cooperation, as well as topics such as the advancement of the roadmap to raise trade between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan during 2022-2023, collaboration in the fields of energy and water resources, including the importation of petroleum products from Turkmenistan to Tajikistan, enhancement of the environmental and socioeconomic situation in the Aral Sea basin, cooperation in the areas of transportation, industry, education, sport, youth, and food security.
