A three-year media program was signed between Uzbekistan, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and UNESCO to promote media access, accountability of institutions, and media literacy in the country. This program is designed to provide citizens with improved access to information, reinforce the rule of law, and advance journalism education. Additionally, it works with judicial actors and law enforcement bodies to create teaching modules on freedom of expression, access to information, and the safety of journalists. It also develops guidelines and a code of conduct to improve the relationship between law enforcement officers and media professionals. Moreover, it adopts a communication plan to ensure accountability and transparency of police institutions with the public.
