Concerto No. 1 for Piano and Orchestra” by Frederic Chopin.

The Art and Culture Development Foundation is devoted to encouraging cultural connections between Uzbekistan and other countries through a variety of concerts and musical projects. On November 17, 2023, the National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan will be performing at the Palace of International Forums “Uzbekistan” with the accompaniment of two Japanese musicians, conductor Hajime Hama and pianist Yukio Yokoyama.

Yukio Yokoyama began playing the piano from an early age and was quickly acknowledged for his outstanding talent in both composition and performance. He was tutored by famous musicians Herbert von Karajan and Mstislav Rostropovich, and at twelve, he started studying piano under Jun Date and composition under Masayuki Nagatomi. At nineteen, he accomplished a remarkable feat by becoming the second finalist and third prize winner of the Chopin International Piano Competition. In 2010, he established a Guinness World Record for the most pieces of music performed by a solo artist in 24 hours. In 2011, he held a charity concert for the victims of the Tohoku region Pacific Coast earthquake, playing all 212 solo works by F. Chopin in 18 hours.

Hajime Hama has been a masterful musician since childhood. After completing his studies in horn playing, he started leading an orchestra and two years later, he conducted the orchestra in the Mozart Hall of the Vienna Konzerthaus. For 25 years, he has been directing the Suva Symphony Orchestra, and in 2012, he founded the creative group “The HAMAKUN and Friends Orchestra”.

The upcoming concert in Tashkent will feature a wide array of pieces, including the work of Uzbek composer Suleiman Yudakov “Khorezm Festival Procession”, “Concerto No. 3 for Piano and Orchestra” by Sergei Prokofiev, “Symphonic Ballad” by Akira Ifukube, and “Concerto No. 1 for Piano and Orchestra” by Frederic Chopin.
