During the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Germany, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the German KfW-IPEX Bank to provide $2.55 billion in financing for the construction of a new copper smelting complex.
According to AMMC, the construction of the new copper smelting complex is being implemented as part of the investment project “Development of the Yoshlik I deposit” by the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On additional measures to expand the production of non-ferrous and precious metals based on deposits of Almalyk MMC JSC of May 26, 2020. The new metallurgical complex will allow the plant to almost double its copper, gold, and silver production.
