A solemn event in recognition of October 1, Teachers and Mentors Day, was held at the Palace of International Forums “Uzbekistan”. The attendees first visited the Alley of Litterateurs in Tashkent and were informed of the broad changes and developments occurring in the education sector of Uzbekistan.
The Minister of Preschool and School Education Hilola Umarova pointed out that the attention given to the education sector in Uzbekistan is becoming increasingly widespread. Reforms are being implemented to bring state educational standards and curricula in line with worldwide standards, popularizing advanced teaching methods and experience of Presidential Schools in general education institutions, further enhancing the professional knowledge and capabilities of teachers, and reinforcing their status in society. All of these are critical factors in improving the quality of preschool and school education.
At the gala event, a group of teachers working in education institutions in Uzbekistan and foreign teachers were presented with the “Khalq talimi alochisi” and “Khalq talimi fidoisi” badges.
At the ceremony, the head of the Social Development Department of the Presidential Administration, Odil Abdurakhmanov, read out the festive congratulations of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to teachers and mentors of Uzbekistan.
It was highlighted that in recent years, immense opportunities have been created for teachers and educators in Uzbekistan. In particular, their salaries were increased 1.5 times, and the number of documents kept by school teachers was drastically reduced. The Law “On the Status of Teachers” was adopted, aimed at strengthening the status of teachers in society and even more secure protection of their rights and interests. Administrative liability for interfering in the professional activities of a teacher or preventing him from performing his official duties has also been reinforced.
At the gala evening, songs and melodies were performed about teachers and mentors, praising the reforms taking place in the country, attention to youth, and peaceful and prosperous life.
