Tashkent recently welcomed the 8th European Film Festival, with the opening ceremony held at Yulduz Cinema in the city. The event is part of the Tashkent International Film Festival “The Pearl of the Silk Road” and will also be held at Bukhara Cinema in Bukhara from 3 October, with free admission. Charlotte Adriaen, Ambassador of the European Union to Uzbekistan, expressed her joy at the launch of the festival and thanked the Cinematography Agency for their collaboration in making this cultural event possible. The festival will feature 15 films from different EU countries, which offer a range of genres and stories.
The EU-FOCUS FILM CAMP was also launched by the FOCUS School of Film and Theater, funded by the European Union, and the participants were awarded certificates at the opening ceremony. The program included theoretical trainings, workshops, film screenings, meetings with local and foreign experts, and film shooting practice.
During the festival, there will be agreements signed for joint film production, including a project titled “Vamberi” with support from the Hungarian National Film Institute. Additionally, a concert of the group “Ego le Cachalot” will take place at the House of Cinematographers on 2 October, with free entrance.
Uzbekistan is delighted to host the 8th European Film Festival, which provides a great opportunity for cultural exchange and the chance to experience some of the best EU films.
