On December 20, a financial agreement was signed between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank in Beijing, China. The agreement, worth over 1.9 billion Chinese yuan (equivalent to $270,000,000), is designated for the implementation of the project “Rogun HPP Development Program, Phase 1.”
The Minister of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan, Fayziddin Qahhorzoda, and the Vice President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Konstantin Limitovsky, signed the agreement.
The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank will provide a total of $500,000,000 in financing for the construction of Rogun HPP, which will be allocated in two phases through separate agreements.
The project aims to enhance Tajikistan’s energy independence and promote sustainable economic development.
The allocated funds will be used for the co-financing of Lot 1 and Lot 3A of Rogun HPP, as well as the construction and reconstruction of 55 km of roads and bridges connecting villages.
