On September 12-13 this year, Bishkek hosted the 16th Forum of Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia of the CIS member states on “Through the interaction of cultures – to the commonwealth and peace”. More than 200 delegates from the Commonwealth countries attended the event. As reported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, during the plenary sessions and specialized sections, experts in science, education, and art discussed new formats of cooperation in education, youth initiatives in volunteerism, and ways to develop intercultural dialogue. The forum participants devoted one of the discussions to the work of Chingiz Aitmatov and his influence on the spiritual and moral worldview of modern reality.
Additionally, for the first time, a meeting of the Council of Heads of State News Agencies of the CIS and a roundtable discussion of heads of theater associations of the Commonwealth countries were held. Murodjon Majidov, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, stated that the forum was one of the largest and most prestigious, during which the results of large-scale humanitarian ties were summed up, tasks were set for further improvement of plans for joint events, and new projects were developed within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States. He also expressed hope that the discussion platforms organized within the framework of the forum on special topics dedicated to culture and art, science and education, literature, and youth issues would give impetus to initiating new ideas and projects.
The laureates of the CIS interstate awards “Stars of the Commonwealth” and “Commonwealth of Debuts” were awarded at the event. A performance by the CIS Youth Symphony Orchestra took place. Furthermore, the central panel discussion focused on the main theme of 2023 in the CIS, which was declared the Year of the Russian language as a means of interethnic communication.
Forums of creative and scientific intelligentsia are the main humanitarian event of the year in the Commonwealth. They are held alternately in the capitals of the CIS countries. The forum organizers are the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation and the Ministry of Culture of Kyrgyzstan.
