On Wednesday, officials from Kia Corp., South Korea’s second-largest automaker, reported that their production plant in Gwangju, located 270 kilometers south of Seoul, had been suspended due to a disruption of parts supply caused by a fatal accident at one of its subcontractors the day before.
The incident occurred on Tuesday and resulted in the death of a 40-something worker at the subcontractor who was run over by a forklift. A Kia representative said workers are currently on standby to resume production.
