Coupang’s Q3 Earnings Increase as Active Clients Exceed 20 Million

On Wednesday, Coupang Inc., a major e-commerce retailer in Asia, announced that its third-quarter net profit had risen slightly, with the number of its active customers surpassing 20 million.

According to a statement from the New York Stock Exchange-listed company, its third-quarter net profit was $91.3 million, an increase of around $1 million from the same period last year. Sales also went up by 21 percent year-on-year to $6.18 billion, while operating profit rose 13 percent to $87.5 million.

The number of active customers, or those who purchased goods from the company at least once in the third quarter, reached 20.42 million, a 14 percent increase from the previous year. Average sales per individual active customer increased 7 percent to $303.

Coupang’s founder and CEO, Kim Bom, commented, “Our relentless focus on the customer experience and operational excellence drove record results again this quarter.”
