(LEAD) S. Korea logs current account surplus for 3rd consecutive month in July
SEOUL, Nov. 8 (Yonhap) — The Bank of Korea (BOK) reported that the nation’s current account surplus was $5.42 billion in September, marking the fifth consecutive month of a surplus. The increase in the trade surplus and higher dividend income from overseas were the main reasons for the positive balance.
The goods account logged a surplus of $7.42 billion, higher than the $5.21 billion surplus in the previous month. Additionally, the primary income account, which includes wages of foreign workers, overseas dividends, and interest income, had a surplus of $1.57 billion, following a surplus of $1.46 billion in August.
In contrast, the services account had a deficit of $3.19 billion in September, compared to a $1.57 billion deficit in August.
