An event is being held in Tashkent as part of the Asian Development Bank’s “Better Customs for Better Client Services in Central Asia” program, with the purpose of facilitating the advancement and hastening of the authorized economic operator program in the region. Representatives from the customs services of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, China, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as transport operator associations, are in attendance.
Nodir Musamuhamedov, the Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, commented that to guarantee trade safety and make customs processes simpler, it is sensible to build relationships between customs services and businesses.
The institute of authorized economic operators has been established in Uzbekistan to promote trade and introduce international standards since 2019. There are currently 53 of these operators in the country, who enjoy privileges for the execution of import-export operations.
Uzbekistan has signed agreements on mutual recognition of authorized economic operators with its main trading partners – Russia and China. Negotiations are in progress to reach similar agreements with Korea, Japan, Türkiye, and the Republic of Belarus.
