The World Food Forum, held from 16-20 October at the FAO Headquarters in Rome, featured a special side event dedicated to the role of agri-food education in transforming food systems in Uzbekistan. A youth delegation of students from the Tashkent State Agrarian University and employees of the FAO office in Uzbekistan took part in the event.
The forum brought together world leaders, experts, representatives of international financial institutions and the private sector, public figures, young people, and activists. The side event was organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Italy, the FAO Country Office in Uzbekistan, and the Tashkent State Agrarian University.
Uzbekistan students shared their experiences and discussed their activities related to agri-food systems. Attendees of the side event gained insight into Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage and its impact on agricultural practices, learned about the educational opportunities available to Uzbek youth, and evaluated the country’s unique experience and progress towards fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goals.
