According to a statement from the mayor’s office, plans have been made to expand the municipal car market and conduct additional repairs in Jalal-Abad during the upcoming summer season. City councilor Zarylbek Saliev noted that the market area experiences flooding during rainy days, causing inconvenience for visitors.
A working group, consisting of local councilors, recently visited the car market to assess its condition. While the market brings in a significant amount of revenue for the city, it lacks necessary facilities. In addition, the market area is prone to puddles during rainy weather and only has one barrier gate, resulting in long queues. During their visit, the group also observed that some vehicle owners were unable to fit inside the market and had to park outside. To address these issues, the market area will be leveled to prevent puddles, more barrier gates will be installed, and overall expansion is planned.
Mayor Ernisbek Ormokov recognized the important contribution of the car market to the city’s budget. He stated that the market is most active during the fall, winter, and spring seasons, with sales slowing down in the summer. Therefore, plans have been made to expand the market from the west side and install additional barrier gates during the summer season.
According to reports, the car market generated 9,355,000 soms for Jalal-Abad’s budget in 2023, exceeding the planned revenue of 8,800,000 soms. For 2024, it is expected to bring in 11,000,000 soms. The market, which covers an area of 3.5 hectares and is located in the Sputnik neighborhood, was constructed and opened in March 2021 with a budget of 10 million soms.
