The 6th meeting of the Tajik and Uzbek working group on the joint use of water resources of the Central Asian transboundary rivers took place in the Tajik city of Guliston. The meeting focused on the outcomes of the Swiss Cooperation Office-funded project “Reconstruction of the Patar and Sarvat gauging stations in the interstate canals of the Great Fergana Canal and the Northern Fergana Canal.” Discussions were also held on the utilization of the automated Patar and Sarvat gauging stations and the potential for new interstate projects related to water resources between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The meeting also included the inauguration of the automated Patar and Sarvat gauging stations, which will facilitate the efficient management of water resources in interstate canals through automatic recording and transmission of water flow data. It is worth noting that the digitalization of the water sector, particularly the implementation of the automated Patar and Sarvat gauging stations, is a key priority for the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan.
