DUSHANBE, 15.02.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – During the 14th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS COP14), held on February 13, the Chairman of Tajikistan’s Committee for Environmental Protection, Bahodur Sheralizoda, met with Uzbekistan’s Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, Aziz Abdukhakimov.
The main focus of the meeting was on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on environmental protection and sustainable use of natural resources.
Additionally, the two parties discussed collaboration in increasing the population of urials, as well as other wild animals and birds, in the Romit State Nature Reserve and various regions of Tajikistan. They also talked about the establishment of transboundary protected areas and joint efforts to enhance the knowledge of specialists in managing protected areas, along with other relevant topics.
Sheralizoda extended an invitation to Abdukhakimov to attend the Third Dushanbe Water Conference, scheduled for June of this year.
