DUSHANBE, 01.02.2024 (NIAT Khovar) — The number of transit flights in Tajikistan has risen by 10% in 2023, following the signing of a Cooperation Agreement between Tajikistan and China for the opening of a new route between Dushanbe and Urumqi, known as the “Pamir — Agvut” route. This was announced by Dilshod Safarzoda, Director of the Civil Aviation Agency under the Government of Tajikistan.

Safarzoda also mentioned that the signing ceremony took place in Dushanbe after various meetings and negotiations. The agreement resulted in the purchase and installation of necessary equipment.

According to Safarzoda, the enterprise has served 51,530 aircraft, which is an 11% increase from the same period in 2022. This growth is attributed to the rise in regular and transit flights operated by both foreign and domestic airlines, as well as the opening of new flight routes through Tajikistan’s airspace. The number of transit flights in the reporting period was 25,971, which is a 10% increase from 2022 (16,873 in 2022).

Safarzoda also highlighted the enterprise’s efforts in modernizing equipment and systems, as well as strengthening cooperation with neighboring countries through the signing of two important documents: the Agreement on bilateral cooperation and coordination between Dushanbe and Tashkent, and the Agreement on bilateral cooperation and coordination between Dushanbe and Samarkand. These agreements aim to enhance the country’s airspace potential, ensure flight safety, increase transit flights, and promote interstate cooperation.
