Uzbekistan is among the 40+ countries taking part in the annual International Photo Contest “Wiki Loves Monuments”, which runs from October 1 through the end of the month. The purpose of the competition is to promote public understanding of the country’s cultural heritage and also to stimulate tourism.
The event is jointly organized by the Wikimedia Community of Uzbekistan and the Russian Wikigid community, with support from the Wikimedia Foundation, UNESCO, and the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Prizes for the contest winners will be provided by the Wikimedia Foundation and the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
