In recent years, the city of Samarkand has become a popular destination for high-level events such as summits, conferences, and congresses due to its modern infrastructure that meets international standards. This is largely thanks to the construction of the “Great Silk Road” tourist complex in 2022, which was initiated by the President and has strengthened the city’s status as an international center.
During a recent visit, the President toured the International Tourism Center to assess the ongoing construction and improvements being made. Various projects are underway within the complex to enhance amenities and services for foreign delegations and tourists. One of these projects includes the construction of a modern concert hall with a seating capacity of 100 and state-of-the-art acoustic systems.
The President also recommended the creation of additional facilities for hosting foreign delegations and conducting bilateral meetings. During the visit, the Hokim of Samarkand provided an update on the region’s socio-economic development and ongoing projects.
It is noteworthy that Samarkand will once again host major international events this year, including the “Central Asia – European Union” summit, the Climate Forum, the “Central Asia – GCC” summit, and the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference. This further highlights the city’s importance as an international hub.
