In an effort to showcase the tourism opportunities in Tajikistan and attract visitors, the Embassy of Tajikistan in Iran hosted a tourism event called “Tajikistan – Iran Roadshow” on August 24. The event was attended by various representatives, including the Ambassador of Tajikistan to Iran, officials from the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism of Iran, travel agencies from Tajikistan, and representatives from other Central Asian countries.
Ambassador Nizomiddin Zohidi provided detailed information on the government’s efforts to develop the tourism industry in Tajikistan and the potential for growth in this sector. He also emphasized the safety and peacefulness of Tajikistan as a tourist destination.
The Director of the International Department of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Iran, Mohammad Qasimi, and heads of major Iranian tourism companies expressed satisfaction with the strong relations between the two countries and expressed their readiness to further expand cooperation and exchange experiences.
The event also featured presentations by Umedjon Saidzoda, the General Director of Somon Travel LLC, who highlighted the competitive advantages of Tajikistan such as its natural beauty, health and wellness tourism, and opportunities for sports and mountaineering tourism.
The participants were also shown new videos promoting Tajikistan’s tourism industry. The event focused on the potential for cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran in the field of tourism and resulted in the signing of relevant agreements between travel companies from both countries.
At the end of the event, participants were given national souvenirs and tourism promotional materials. It is worth noting that the Memorandum of Understanding between the Governments of Tajikistan and Iran, which allows for visa-free travel for holders of general civil passports, went into effect on August 10. This means that citizens from both countries can visit each other’s territories without a visa for up to 90 days, with a maximum stay of 30 days per visit. The visa-free system will initially only apply to those traveling between Dushanbe and Tehran by air.
A similar tourism event took place in Islamabad on August 13, resulting in the signing of 10 memorandums of cooperation between tourism companies from Tajikistan and Pakistan.
