South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Co. has declared that its revised GV80 SUV and the first-ever coupe model from its independent Genesis brand will be available in the domestic market come October.
The initial GV80 SUV, which was released in 2020, has been sold in over 170,000 units worldwide. Both the GV80 and the GV80 Coupe will be powered by either a 2.5 turbocharged gasoline engine or a 3.5-liter gasoline turbo engine.
At the models’ unveiling event, Genesis Chief Brand Officer Graeme Russell stated, “The GV80 Coupe model brings a fresh element to the Genesis brand. It has a sporty exterior shape with an advanced interior that embodies Genesis’ Beauty of White Space philosophy.”
The GV80 Coupe Concept, which was inspired by the X Speedium Coupe Concept, was first showcased in April at the Genesis House New York showroom. It is a four-seater SUV that combines the practicality of a lifestyle-oriented SUV with the dynamism of a sports car.
Hyundai will start selling the two models in the local market on October 11. Prices and other details will be announced later.
Currently, the Genesis lineup includes the GV80 and GV70 SUVs, along with the G90, G80, electrified G80 and G70 sedans. Hyundai plans to have eight hydrogen and battery models in the Genesis lineup by 2030, with the goal of selling 400,000 units a year globally.
