On Thursday, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport declared that Kia Corp., Volkswagen Group Korea, Stellantis Korea, and EVion would be voluntarily recalling nearly 8,000 vehicles due to defective components.
The 7,913 units of five different models have been recalled due to potential fire hazards in the battery system of Kia’s Soul EV, a malfunctioning safety belt system in the Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV, and a faulty fuel supply connector system in EVion’s electric bus.
Stellantis, a combined venture between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and PSA Group, offers Jeep, Peugeot, and DS models in South Korea. DS was initially presented as a luxury sub-brand of Citroen and later became its own separate brand.
Vehicle owners can visit www.car.go.kr or call 080-357-2500 to determine if their automobiles are part of the recall, the ministry stated.
