A scientific conference titled “Exploring the History of Sultan Saifuddin Qutuz” was held at the Egypt Public Library, with the participation of historians, writers, and artists from Uzbekistan and Egypt. The main focus of the conference was on creating feature films and documentaries that showcase the life and legacy of the renowned commander.

During the opening of the conference, speeches were given by Mansurbek Qilichev, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Egypt, Reda Al-Taify, the Director of the Egypt Public Libraries Fund, and Bekzod Abdirimov, the author of the book “Saifiddin Qutuz – The Final Blow” published in Uzbek and English. They emphasized that joint cultural initiatives between the two countries strengthen their cooperation and friendship.

Sultan Saifuddin Qutuz, a native of ancient Khorezm, is remembered as one of the great heroes of the Islamic world. As the ruler of Egypt, he led his troops to victory in the Battle of Ain Jalut in 1260, successfully defeating the Mongols and stopping their expansion into the region. His story represents the deep historical connection between Central Asia and the Middle East.

The conference participants highlighted the significance of Qutuz’s figure not only as a military leader, but also as a symbol of shared historical roots and cultural ties between Uzbekistan and Egypt. They proposed joint film projects to bring this unique story to a wider international audience, especially the younger generation.

It was also noted that the strong ties between Uzbekistan and Egypt have a long history, from scholars and rulers in the Middle Ages to the traditions of Al-Azhar and the Naqshbandi Order. These ties continue to flourish through active cultural diplomacy efforts from both countries.

The conference concluded with a performance by artists from the State Philharmonic of Uzbekistan, who showcased a national dance as a highlight of the event’s diverse program.
