At a meeting in Switzerland, First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Director of the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights Akmal Saidov presented Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong with the badge “For the Protection of Human Rights”. This was in recognition of his contribution to developing international cooperation in human rights.
Mr. Chungong thanked the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his outstanding contribution to strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, and noted the Parliament of Uzbekistan’s role in the activities of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. He also expressed his gratitude for the statement of readiness to hold the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, scheduled for 2025, in Uzbekistan.
