The inaugural edition of the International Quantum Week in Uzbekistan took place, providing a unique educational experience for schoolchildren, students, teachers, and university professors to delve into modern quantum technologies. This initiative, organized by Rosatom and the Russian Quantum Center (RQC), was part of the roadmap for the development of Quantum Computing. The week-long event commenced on December 10 at Samarkand State University, home to the Samarkand Quantum Center led by renowned Uzbek scientist Anvar Zakhidov.
For seven days, attendees had the opportunity to attend public lectures, open quantum lessons, laboratory tours, and roundtable discussions with industry professionals and scientists at various universities in Jizzakh, the NRTU MISIS branch in Almalyk, as well as the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the National University in Tashkent.
During the visit, the Russian delegation signed an agreement with the Agency for Innovative Development under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, with the aim of enhancing collaboration between the two countries in training specialists in quantum computing based on Russian research centers.
This initiative aims to increase awareness among citizens of Uzbekistan about the latest advancements in quantum computing and their practical applications. The agreements made during the event will facilitate the exchange of knowledge and foster mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia in this promising field.
