Aldi, a popular supermarket chain, has given a unique twist to its signage at its nearest store to where the band Oasis will be performing. The change reflects the local dialect and pronunciation of the city of Manchester, as well as paying homage to the legendary band.
The store, located in Prestwich on Bury New Road, has temporarily changed its name to “Aldeh” in honor of the upcoming Oasis concerts in Heaton Park. This change will remain in place during the duration of the band’s sold-out gigs.
The Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, have reunited for their 2025 tour, which includes five shows in Heaton Park starting on July 11th. The band originally disbanded 16 years ago after a backstage fight between the brothers at a festival in Paris. The tour will kick off in Cardiff and end in Brazil in November.
Aldi’s chief commercial officer, Julie Ashfield, stated that the temporary name change is a celebration of both the local dialect and the iconic band that has brought joy to fans all over the world. This is not the first time a supermarket has paid tribute to the Gallagher brothers, as Lidl previously put up a spoof blue plaque at their store in Newton Heath in response to Liam Gallagher’s claim that he would perform at the store if shows at the Co-op Live arena could not go ahead.
