Recently, the people of Uzbekistan elected their leader, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who made his first trip to Azerbaijan. This is a testament to Uzbekistan’s strong bond with Azerbaijan and demonstrates the strong ties between the two nations, as well as the heads of state.
In addition to multiple state meetings and the signing of several bilateral agreements, an important event has been added to the history of Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan relations – the opening of Mirzo Ulugbek Secondary School No. 1 in Fuzuli. We are deeply grateful for this generous gift to the Azerbaijani people. This is a huge milestone for the Azerbaijani people as the Karabakh issue was a great source of pain, and the return of our lands is a victory of justice. Uzbekistan was the first of our friends to offer to help in restoring the Fuzuli district. The school is named after the great Uzbek scholar Mirzo Ulugbek, which is symbolic. From the first grade, every student will always remember the love and support of Uzbekistan for Azerbaijan in its brave mission of reclaiming its lands and restoring its territorial integrity.
I have visited Uzbekistan five times, four times before 2016 and the last one was two months ago. In this regard, I would like to point out the positive changes that have occurred in Uzbekistan over the past 5-6 years. All this makes the admirers of Uzbekistan rejoice and be proud of its achievements. Today, Uzbekistan is like a beacon of light in Central Asia. I am sure that due to the efforts of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan will continue to move forward confidently towards its bright future. As a fraternal people, we will observe the success of our friendly Uzbekistan and take great pleasure in it.
