The Tashkent Health Week of Uzbekistan and the United States recently took place at the Trilliant Tashkent Hotel. The conference was attended by representatives from the diplomatic corps, ministry employees, heads of medical centers, higher education institutions, and over a hundred U.S. medical professionals.
The Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Amrillo Inoyatov, noted that the relationship between Uzbekistan and the United States had grown to a new level of strategic partnership since the President of Uzbekistan’s visit to the United States in 2018. The American government has supported the wide-ranging reforms in Uzbekistan in the fields of education and healthcare.
Furthermore, the vaccine supplied by the United States has been an invaluable asset in stabilizing the epidemiological situation and safeguarding public health. Additionally, several projects funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) have enabled the medical sector to advance with the times.
The Uzbekistan – United States Health Week is a crucial step towards furthering this cooperation. At the conference, topics discussed included digitalization of the international sphere, development of medical tourism, expansion of investment projects, and implementation of joint programs in medical education and traditional medicine.
Moreover, a group of American specialists was awarded the “Excellent Health Worker of the Republic of Uzbekistan” badge for their valuable contribution to the partnership. Memorandums and contracts were also signed between American partners and the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, republican specialized medical centers, and higher medical education institutions of the country.
As part of the Health Week, high-tech surgical operations and masterclasses with the participation of U.S. qualified specialists were held in several specialized scientific and practical medical centers, private medical institutions, and centers of higher medical education in Uzbekistan.
