Farrukh Zakirov, People’s Artist of Uzbekistan and artistic director of the “Yalla” ensemble, commented on the Uzbek Culture Days held in Baku, Azerbaijan, stating that music, art, and literature bring people together. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has made efforts to strengthen the relationship between the two countries, which is demonstrated through the cultural events.
The Uzbek-Azerbaijani relationship has been ongoing for centuries, with Azerbaijani national music being appreciated by Uzbeks and Uzbek music, poetry, and folklore being valued by Azerbaijanis. The Culture Days of Uzbekistan in Baku further highlighted the similarities of the two peoples.
The event included performances with Azerbaijani opera and pop singer Rashid Behbudov and Gulyanaq Mammadova, which were met with great excitement. In May-June this year, Uzbekistan also held the “Azerbaijani Music Days in Uzbekistan” in Tashkent and Samarkand in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev’s birth.
The Azerbaijani diaspora and Republican Azerbaijani National Cultural Center have also been actively participating in cultural and educational events in Uzbekistan, dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the country’s independence.
