The German Berghof Foundation, a highly renowned organization, is working closely with the German Foreign Ministry and the EU Commission to research the Afghan issue. As it is a key part of Uzbekistan’s foreign policy strategy, the International Scientific Research Strategic Studies Center (ISRS) and the Berghof Foundation jointly arranged a scientific and practical workshop with the participation of experts from leading analytical centers of Uzbekistan. During the workshop, the First Deputy Director of ISRS, Akramjon Nematov, highlighted the importance of uniting the international community’s efforts to strengthen peace and stability in Afghanistan, and supporting its economic development and well-being. The German experts also noted that implementing the construction of the Termez – Mazar-i-Sharif – Kabul – Peshawar railroad and the Surkhan – Puli-Khumri power transmission line will help transform Afghanistan into a connecting bridge between Central and South Asia. The German delegation, Basir Feda, praised the actions taken in Uzbekistan to develop infrastructure on the Uzbekistan – Afghanistan border and noted that Tashkent is dedicated to creating enduring peace on Afghan soil. In general, the Uzbek and German experts agreed that it is essential to bring together the global community in order to normalize the situation in Afghanistan and ensure its economic prosperity.
