On September 20, the leader of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, had a meeting in New York. The head of Uzbekistan warmly congratulated Infantino for the successful organization of the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
The two parties spoke with enthusiasm about the close partnership between Uzbekistan and FIFA, and the initiatives and projects they are collaborating on to promote football and attract more young people.
The discussion touched upon the organization and implementation of major FIFA events in Uzbekistan, including female and youth championships. Infantino extended his congratulations to Uzbekistan for the upcoming 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup and wished the country luck in hosting it at a high level.
Infantino was impressed by the extensive efforts in Uzbekistan to develop grassroots and professional football, as well as to construct modern infrastructure and educational facilities.
