The President of Uzbekistan highlights the significance of enhancing trade and economic partnership with Afghanistan

The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, underlines the importance of strengthening trade and economic cooperation with Afghanistan.

The Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry of Afghanistan, Nooruddin Azizi, who is participating in the Tashkent International Investment Forum, conveyed the sincere greetings of the Afghan leadership to the President of Uzbekistan.

The discussion focused on expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas such as trade, economy, transportation, logistics, energy, agriculture, geological exploration, and mineral resource extraction.

The President expressed satisfaction with the growing business contacts, trade volumes, and number of joint ventures between the two countries. Regular business missions and exhibitions involving companies from both countries are also being held, and the International Trade Center in Termez is operating successfully. In addition, trade houses were recently opened in Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif in May of this year.

The President of Uzbekistan stressed the importance of further strengthening the legal and regulatory framework for economic and investment cooperation.

The need to expedite the construction of the “Hairatan” Industrial Center, including the establishment of production facilities for pharmaceuticals, furniture, textiles, construction materials, and agricultural processing, was also highlighted.

Support was expressed for major regional infrastructure projects, such as the Trans-Afghan Railway and the Surkhan –  Pul-i-Khumri power transmission line.
