The President of Uzbekistan discusses partnership priorities with the New Development Bank

On June 9, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, met with Dilma Rousseff, President of the BRICS New Development Bank, who was visiting the country for the Tashkent International Investment Forum. The focus of the meeting was on strengthening practical cooperation with this multilateral financial institution. The successful implementation of agreements made during the BRICS Summit in October of last year was also acknowledged. This includes the approval for Uzbekistan to become a member of the New Development Bank, with a program of priority joint projects worth $5 billion already in place. The President emphasized the need to expedite the preparation and execution of projects in key areas such as irrigation system modernization, mining industry development, private sector financing, and public-private partnerships in education and infrastructure. The President also expressed support for major regional infrastructure projects.
