On September 5, 2023, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, President of Turkmenistan, and Kyosuke Nagata, President of the Japanese University of Tsukuba, exchanged greetings. Mr. Nagata conveyed the enthusiasm of the Emperor and Prime Minister of Japan to strengthen the relationship between the two countries, to which President Berdimuhamedov responded with his own warm regards, emphasizing the international dialogue between Turkmenistan and Japan that is built on friendship, trust, and mutual understanding.
The primary focus of the conversation was the possibility of deepening the Turkmen-Japanese ties in science and education. President Berdimuhamedov expressed his gratitude for the cooperation between the two countries in this area, which is manifested by the education of Turkmen youth in Japan, the teaching of the Japanese language in Turkmen institutions, and the established links between representatives of science and education. He also noted the successful partnership between the University of Tsukuba and the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages and the Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan.
Mr. Nagata thanked President Berdimuhamedov for his contributions to the enhancement of the dialogue between the two countries, and highlighted the role of Chairman Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in laying the foundations for the successful collaboration. He also mentioned that the President of Turkmenistan is an Honorary Doctor of the University of Tsukuba and has been directly involved in the growth of the Turkmen-Japanese relations.
