AKIPRESS.COM – The regional administration has announced a state of emergency in West Kazakhstan region due to severe flooding. The decision was made by the region’s leader, Nariman Turegaliev.
The administration reports that the region is facing a challenging situation, with residential areas in Syrym, Terekti, Karatobe, and Borili districts being flooded.
The administration also stated that the water levels in five transboundary rivers originating from Russia are rising, including the Karaozen and Saryozen rivers which flow into the Kaztal and Zhangaly districts. Security measures have been increased in these areas. Additionally, the Chagan and Derkol rivers have reached dangerous levels, and the Ural River’s water volume is also increasing.
As a result of the floods, approximately 4,000 individuals, including many children, have been evacuated from the region. Evacuation centers have been set up to assist those affected by the floods.
