At the start of trading on Monday, South Korean stocks experienced a slight dip due to losses in tech and auto stocks. The Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) decreased by 0.28 percent, falling 7.06 points to 2,540.62 in the initial 15 minutes of trading.
Leading electronics firm Samsung Electronics dropped 0.28 percent, and its competitor SK hynix decreased 0.44 percent. Hyundai Motor, the country’s top carmaker, decreased by 0.65 percent, and LG Energy Solution, the leading battery manufacturer, dropped 0.79 percent.
Moreover, Naver, the major online portal operator, declined 1.63 percent, and KT, the second largest mobile carrier, decreased by 3.4 percent.
The South Korean won was trading at 1,335.1 against the US dollar, a decrease of 1.7 won from the previous close.
