The University of Girona, Spain hosted Symbiosis Law School, Pune’s 2nd Study Visit for the Curricula Development in Climate Change Policy and Law from May 30th to June 4th. This visit was a requirement of the CCP Law Project, an Erasmus+ CBHE Project of the European Union, to discuss the progress of the project and prepare the Asian and Transnational Reports.
As part of WP 1.3, Symbiosis International University conducted extensive research and discussions with stakeholders to gather information on similar curricula in Asia. The technical meeting was attended by consortium partners including Symbiosis International University, Hue University and HLU of Vietnam, IIUM and UUM of Malaysia, Marwadi University, UdG and EKS Spain.
The academic outcomes of the study visit included strengthening collaborations among consortium partners, adopting best practices in curriculum development and management, and enhancing networking opportunities. Four faculty members from Symbiosis Law School, Pune were part of the visit, led by Prof (Dr) Shashikala Gurpur, Fulbright Scholar, Jean Monnet Chairperson (EUC-LAMP Co-funded by EU), Director, SLS-P, Dean Faculty of Law, SI(DU) and Fulbright Scholar and Jean Monnet Chair Professor (EU-LAMP co-funded by EU), Director, SLS-P, Dean, Faculty of Law, Symbiosis International (Deemed University).
The six-day visit included discussions on the progress of the project, equipment purchases, and challenges faced in preparing the reports. The first day featured a welcome address by Dr Albert Ruda, Dean of the Faculty of Law UdG, and a presentation on teaching and learning best practices by Prof Josep M. Serra, Vice-rector of teaching.
The second day focused on the key points of the Asia report and the challenges faced in assimilating best practices. The third day included a presentation on the Erasmus Mundus Master’s Programme and Sustainability Plan by IMA- Geography members of UdG. The fourth day was dedicated to capacity-building activities, including a visit to the UdG Library and sessions on student-centered teaching and quality guidelines. The fifth day featured presentations on the basic course content and structure of the CCP-Law Programme and discussions on pedagogical approaches and participative methodologies. The visit ended with a cultural tour organized by UdG.
The innovative strategies and policies employed by UdG for climate change conservation can be implemented at Symbiosis International University to expand the students’ and faculties’ horizons and establish the Climate Change Law Centre, as mandated by the project. (ANI/SRV)
