Sergio Mattarella Visits the Ichan-Kala Complex in Khiva

A delegation headed by the President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella, paid a visit to the Ichan-Kala complex in Khiva city. The complex, which has been granted the status of an open-air museum, is part of the UNESCO World Heritage List and covers an area of 26 hectares, featuring 58 historical and architectural monuments. It has been operating for more than a century.

The ancient structures in the complex have been a source of fascination for foreign tourists. The distinguished guests were able to admire the mosques, madrassas, and other ancient city buildings that are located here. The delegation also spoke with the people working in the museum, tourists, and artisans. Sergio Mattarella left a memorable note in the guest book of the museum.

At the end of the visit, the President of Italy departed Uzbekistan. He was seen off at Urgench International Airport by the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva, the Hokim of Khorezm region Jurabek Rakhimov, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Gayrat Fozilov.
