Tashkent held a gathering with foreign language educators recruited to secondary schools in Uzbekistan. Representatives from the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, the embassies of the United States, China, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, specialists from UNESCO, UNICEF, USAID, the British Council, the French Alliance, the Goethe Institute, local and foreign teachers were invited to the event.
It was highlighted that the country has been undergoing active reforms in education in recent years. Particular attention is given to enhancing the quality of education and creating the necessary conditions for teachers. In line with the President’s idea, systematic efforts are being made to establish new foundations for teaching foreign languages to the nation’s youth. To do this, teachers from developed countries who are proficient in their profession and have extensive teaching experience are invited to work in schools from developed countries. This provides opportunities for better mastery of foreign languages by the younger generation.
The event was intended to promote advanced foreign language teaching programs. At the meeting, foreign partners proposed further developing the system of studying foreign languages in Uzbekistan. An agreement was reached on developing an action plan and cooperation.
Many changes are being implemented to improve the quality of teaching foreign languages in secondary schools starting from the current academic year. With the help of foreign educational organizations, embassies, foreign and local recruiting companies, highly qualified teachers from abroad are invited to educational institutions of the system of the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan to teach foreign languages.
More than 500 foreign teachers teach English, German, and French in schools. Foreign teachers in high schools teach lessons using textbooks and programs prepared by the publishing houses “Cambridge University Press” in the UK, “Didier” in France, and “Klett” in Germany.
Foreign teachers also teach students in clubs three times a week, and local teachers organize master classes and workshops three times a week.
