On August 11, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev had the opportunity to examine the newly constructed Bukhara State Medical Institute, named after Abu Ali ibn Sina. The complex, located in one place, was built as part of an investment program and was opened in May. It contains an educational building for 900 people, a clinic with 200 beds, a training and simulation center, a vivarium, a gym, and student hostels for 1.2 thousand people. Additionally, a branch of the Institute of Immunology and Human Genomics has been established.
The institute provides training for nine areas of profession: general medicine, pediatrics, dentistry, advanced nursing courses, medical pedagogy, medical prevention, medical biology, traditional treatment, and pharmacy. 568 professors and lecturers are employed. President Mirziyoyev noted that the institute should be utilized to serve the people of Uzbekistan and proposed paying allowances to specialists to reduce the incidence in assigned mahallas. Furthermore, the importance of organizing phytobars in mahallas, raising awareness of the benefits of medicinal plants, and creating a pharmaceutical cluster in Bukhara was highlighted.
The Head of State also discussed the project for developing the city of Bukhara and the need to improve the tourist infrastructure and expand conditions for visitors in the historical part of Bukhara. It is planned to transfer the western part of Tudakul reservoir to Bukhara region and organize resorts there. President Mirziyoyev concluded by expressing his desire to increase the tourism potential of the region by 10 times. Afterward, he returned to Tashkent.
