At the fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia in Dushanbe, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov put forward the idea of creating a Central Asian transport and logistics platform. He underlined the significance of the transport sector in promoting collaboration and remarked that the countries of the region are gradually introducing favorable conditions for freight and passenger traffic between the nations of Central Asia and other parts of the Eurasian continent.
“In this regard, we suggest to consider the possibility of setting up a Central Asian transport and logistics platform, which could be used to explore the issues of constructing transport hubs in the region, forming new and improving the efficiency of existing transit corridors, and optimizing and harmonizing customs, migration, and other procedures along international transport routes passing through the territories of our states,” said Berdimuhamedov.
