At the Sherdor Madrasah in the Registan Complex, Sergio Mattarella, President of the Italian Republic, was given a tour of some of the artifacts found during the Uzbekistan-Italian joint expedition at Kofir Qala in the Samarkand region. He was also informed about the expedition’s progress, which has been ongoing for two decades.
Kofir Qala, which is believed to have been built during the Middle Ages, was the summer residence of Samarkand’s rulers.

President Mattarella was highly impressed by the expedition’s work and wished them continued success.
