At a videoconference in Bukhara, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his worry about the lack of discipline concerning energy consumption. It was revealed that in the past seven months, 160 million kilowatt-hours of electricity and 290 million cubic meters of gas had been misused, resulting in losses of 355 billion UZS to network enterprises.
The Prosecutor General’s Office and the Uzenergoinspeksiya have been granted broad powers and resources, but they are mainly dealing with the consequences of the misuse of energy, not preventing it. District hokims, prosecutors, heads of internal affairs organizations, and other agencies were warned that if electricity theft and debt accumulation continues in their area, they will be held jointly responsible with the heads of the electricity and gas supply department.
The president insisted that work must be initiated promptly to guarantee the safe operation of the autumn-winter season, the stability of the energy system, and the guaranteed provision of energy resources to the population and sectors of the economy.
