President Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan Suggests Establishing a Central Asian Chamber of Commerce

At the fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia in Dushanbe, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the President of Turkmenistan, proposed the formation of a Central Asian Chamber of Commerce. He stated that the most essential task is to extend trade and economic ties between the countries of the area and to elevate the amount of mutual trade turnover.

“I reckon that specific and effective measures are required here. In this regard, we propose to examine the issue of creating a Central Asian Chamber of Commerce,” the head of state mentioned. He also added that the purpose of the new institution is to coordinate joint steps of the nations in the region for the growth of trade; to guarantee the commercial interests of all potential economic entities in the Central Asian market; and to bring in investments for the implementation of major regional projects.
